We can now confirm that the Section 11 Safeguarding Audit is now live and will run from Monday 28th February 2022 until Friday 29th April 2022.

UPDATE: Further to recent enquiries, please note that the Section 11 audit applies to organisations and agencies such as Local Authorities, Health agencies and Police partners.  This should not be confused with Section 175/157 Safeguarding Self-Assessment arrangements for Schools and Colleges in Blackpool and Lancashire which are completed under Section 175 of the Education Act 2002, details of which can be found in the dedicated Section 175/157 page here: Section 175/157 Safeguarding Self-Assessment – Schools and Colleges

Section 11 of the Children Act 2004 places a duty on key people and bodies to make arrangements to ensure that their functions are discharged with regard to the need to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

As part of a co-ordinated approach, the Children’s Safeguarding Assurance Partnership will be conducting the Section 11 audit process.  This audit captures important data and enables agencies to continue good practice and provides a mechanism for understanding how we can support partner agencies in further developing any specific aspects of safeguarding arrangements.  The audit provides an opportunity for each agency to demonstrate compliance with statutory guidance.

The Section 11 self-assessment for 2022 will take the form of a self-assessment to be completed online and includes an associated toolkit with guidance materials and action planning templates to support colleagues with the completion.

You can out more about the Section 11 self-assessment process from the dedicated Section 11 page in the Assurance, Scrutiny & Impact section of the CSAP website.
