Operation Encompass Update

As many colleagues will already be aware, Operation Encompass is a National initiative with the aim of helping to protect children through better communication between the Police and Schools.

Lancashire Constabulary’s qualifying criteria for Operation Encompass includes:

  • All domestic abuse incidents
  • Vulnerable child investigations
  • Missing people

Note: All of the above aspects include children and young people aged 4 – 17 yrs.

So How does Operation Encompass work?

When the police attend an incident of domestic abuse, vulnerable child or any missing investigation involving children (even if they were not present at the time), key information about it will be shared in the strictest confidence with a designated member of staff at the School or College.

This information is sent by the Police electronically to the School or College the child/children attend who are then able to provide the young person with immediate support to complement existing safeguarding measures.

Why this update?

Our colleagues at Lancashire Constabulary are asking that ALL Operation Encompass Key Adults in Schools and Colleges ensure they complete the Operation Encompass FREE Online Key Adult Training which is available via the link below:
