Dark Web Explained…

A popular question we often receive during Online Safety sessions with Parents & Carers is What is the Dark Web?  Should the topic arise**, parents and carers often feel ill-equipped to have discussions around the Dark Web.

To support with this, colleagues at the NCA (National Crime Agency) in partnership with The Children’s Society and the Marie Collins Foundation have produced a short (5-minute) information film for Parents & Carers about the Dark Web, explaining what it is and why/how some young people may wish to access it.

**Important Advisory:
These resources are intended for professionals and parents and carers use only.  As explained in the supporting NCA resource, it is strongly advised that you do not have conversations about the Dark Web with your child if they are not already using it.

In addition to the information film, there is also an accompanying Fact Sheet designed specifically for parents and carers and contains further information and practical advice including what to do if your child has accessed the dark web, conversation starters and steps that will help to keep your child safe.
